Desyrel

Desyrel is primarily used to treat depression.

Before taking these drugs tell your doctor:

• if you are scheduled to have surgery
• if you have heart disease including irregular heartbeat or have had a heart attack
• if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
• you are taking sodium oxybate (GHB)
• if you have a history of depression or suicidal tendencies
• if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
• if you are allergic to any ingredient in Desyrel or nefazodone
• if you consume alcoholic beverages
• if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding

Dose

Follow your doctor’s instructions closely. Desyrel should be taken orally after food . Do not miss your dose and do not take more than prescribed. From 1 to 4 weeks may pass before you fell the effect of Desyrel.

Interaction with other drugs

• itraconazole, buspirone, digoxin, carbamazepine, hydantoins (eg, phenytoin), ketoconazole, nefazodone, serotonin reuptake inhibitors (eg, fluoxetine), or sodium oxybate (GHB) because the risk of their side effects may be increased by Desyrel
• HIV protease inhibitors (eg, ritonavir), carbamazepine, ethanol, ginkgo biloba, phenothiazines (eg, thioridazine), or serotonin reuptake inhibitors (eg, fluoxetine) because side effects, such as increased drowsiness or blurred vision, may occur
• anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) because they may decrease Desyrel 's effectiveness.

Tell your doctor about all pills that you are taking

• muscle aches/pains; nausea; stuffy nose; swelling of the skin;
• dizziness; general body discomfort; headache; incoordination; light-headedness; nervousness; sleeplessness; tiredness; tremors; ; fainting; hallucinations; irregular heartbeat; light-headedness when rising from a lying or seated position; shortness of breath; stroke; vomiting;
• blurred vision;
• blood in urine;
• seizures;
• severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue);
• prolonged, inappropriate, or painful erections;
• constipation; stomach pain;
• decreased appetite; drowsiness; dry mouth; chest pain.

Storage

Store Desyrel in the original container and keep out of the reach of children and animals.
